Should Braces Be Put On Baby Teeth?

Often times, parents’ disregard caring for their children’s teeth just because they think that teeth can still adjust as their kids grow older. It is a sad fact that not all adults know the importance of dental care, especially at a younger age. Some might not think of dental care to be as serious as other medical issues because they do not find it threatening and believe it can be quickly resolved by dental tools in the future.

Can kids as young as seven use braces

The answer to that is a big “yes.” Giving a child early orthodontic treatment can really save him or her from disorders and discomfort in the future. According to the American Association of Orthodontist children should have their first orthodontic check-up no later than age 7. You have to remember those baby teeth are temporary and when they fall off, even if the child is under seven years old, that tooth is now permanent. This is another reason to remind your child to take care of their teeth because once they are damaged, they never grow back again.

However, if your kids are experiencing early orthodontic disorders, then you should immediately consult a dentist or orthodontist instead of waiting until they grow older. The more you wait, the more difficult the treatment will be. Early treatment also means that it is less risky because the damage will not be as severe and there is a minimal chance of the whole procedure being done again in the future since it will be corrected early.

Early orthodontic treatment is the key to saving your child’s teeth and your money. Most dentists do not charge the same rates for different conditions. If you decide to give your teenager braces, but the damage is way too complicated, then it is highly possible that you will be paying more money. While braces are good for the teeth to heal and be put in their proper places, the installation of braces can be stressful for the patient, especially during the first week when they have to adjust to having those tools inside their mouth.
