Introduction

Technological advancements have opened the door to several new orthodontic treatments, and while these cutting-edge options are fantastic, it can be confusing to figure out which treatment is best for your needs. That’s why we put together this guide, so you can learn more about Advanced Customized Options such as Insignia Braces, Invisalign (and all its variations) and Incognito Lingual Braces, as well as today’s Traditional Treatments like Silver and Ceramic Braces and Personalized WildSmiles Braces for Kids.

Advanced Customized Options

Cutting-edge technology and continual improvements in orthodontics have paved the way for many advanced customized treatments and “invisible” options.

1

Insignia Advanced Smile Design

Insignia Advanced Smile Design aims to provide you a truly customized orthodontic experience with its amazing technology-driven treatment.

First, your orthodontist uses interactive software to develop a custom treatment plan for your beautiful smile, catering to your specific orthodontic concerns. Before developing the treatment plan, several things are taken into account, including your dental anatomy, your facial symmetry, and facial features.

The software uses virtual 3-D imaging to create a digital image of your mouth. These digital images show your exact tooth positioning, which can then be used to create your hyper-customized Insignia braces with meticulous attention to detail.

Your orthodontist can customize Insignia brackets and wires so you receive treatment as unique as your smile. Custom-built brackets mean your tooth movement is optimal and the treatment can be faster and more effective (with fewer orthodontist visits). Plus, the 3D software shows the possible outcome of the treatment, so you can get an idea of what your beautiful smile will look like when treatment is done.

INVISALIGN

Invisalign clear aligners are perhaps the most popular aesthetic type of orthodontic treatment on the market, as they allow you to comfortably treat your teeth and flaunt your smile without letting anyone know you’re under treatment.

Invisalign doesn’t involve wires and brackets; instead, orthodontists use clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth. Typically, your orthodontist will provide a few sets of aligners to be worn for a predetermined amount of time, moving teeth gradually with each new aligner. Invisalign clear aligners work best when you wear them for at least 20 hours a day.

And since you can remove the smooth plastic aligners when you eat or brush your teeth (or for special occasions) they’re incredibly convenient and make oral hygiene easy.

Be sure to talk to your Invisalign Provider to see if this treatment is right for you. And if you’re looking for a teenager or child, you’re in luck — Invisalign offers specialized treatments for both.

Overview

  • No wires, no brackets
  • Easy to remove
  • Great for teens

INVISALIGN TEEN

Opting for invisible aligners is a popular choice among teens who may feel embarrassed about wearing metal braces. And Invisalign Teen is perfect for those in adolescence because they’ve made sure treatment is easier to follow — their aligners have blue indicator buttons that show if the aligners have been worn for sufficient hours.

INVISALIGN FIRST

Growing children with changing teeth can benefit from early orthodontic treatment. Known as Phase 1 treatment (typically kids ages 6-10), this can be a perfect time to address, and take care of, any developing problems. Invisalign First are clear aligners specifically designed to provide predictable results and positive, comfortable experiences for growing children and their little smiles.

Incognito Lingual Braces

Incognito Lingual Braces are like traditional metallic braces but with one BIG difference. The braces adhere to your teeth, but they’re hidden from the public eye — that’s because they are affixed to the backside of your teeth.

Lingual braces are fantastic because they provide the benefits of traditional braces (effective for a wide range of problems), along with the benefits of invisible treatments (no one knows you have them but you!). And because lingual braces are custom-made for each person, they are comfortable, invisible, and efficient.

Overview

  • Invisible to everyone else!
  • As effective as traditional braces
  • Comfortable

Traditional Braces

The essential components of traditional braces include brackets and wires, and they’re still an effective treatment option today. Now, with modern technological advancements, they’re more comfortable and boast treatment times much shorter than they used to be.

Traditional Braces

Overview

  • Effective
  • Comfortable

As the name implies, these traditional braces are made of high-grade stainless steel, metallic wire brackets, and elastic ties. The brackets attach to the teeth surfaces via a specialized adhesive. The wires are then secured to the brackets with elastic ties, and the pressure of the wires exert constant pressure on the dislocated teeth, slowly moving them into place.

Advancements with modern silver braces include being lighter in weight, smaller, and more comfortable than they used to be. Most of this is due to the invention of a durable and flexible nickel-titanium alloy (developed by NASA) which is used in the wires, equaling less pressure and less pain.

Ceramic Braces

Overview

  • Less Noticeable
  • Equally as Effective

If the idea of noticeable braces makes you uneasy, have no fear, there is another traditional option that is an alternative to metallic braces — ceramic.

The shape and size of ceramic braces are the same as metallic braces, but they’re more natural-looking. The ceramic material has a similar color and texture as your teeth, so it’s more difficult for people to spot if you’re wearing braces at all.

Ceramic braces are considered a more aesthetic option since their enamel coloring has the added benefit of being a little more “under-the-radar.” All you have to do is to maintain proper oral hygiene to protect the elastic ties from stains.

WildSmiles Braces for Kids

Overview

  • Personalized
  • Fun for Kids!

Tooth misalignment, teeth gapping, and/or crowded teeth are not age-specific orthodontic problems and can be an issue for children of all ages. If you want your child to feel confident with their braces, consider Personalized WildSmiles Braces which helps your child take some control of the experience.

Specially designed for children and teens, WildSmiles Braces allow kids to choose their brackets in the shapes and colors that express their personality. There are a variety of shapes to choose from, including hearts, stars, soccer balls, flowers, diamonds, and more.

Not only are WildSmiles Braces a fun alternative to traditional braces, but they can also help your child feel good about themselves and embrace their smile confidently.
