Hialeah Children Celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and the American Dental Association highlights the necessity for proper oral health for children since their first tooth emerges!  Teaching your child how to properly brush and floss their teeth is essential to a lifetime of good oral health!   Regular dental visits are equally vital.  But have you given thought to your child’s need for orthodontic care? Learn more about the Top 1% of Invisalign Providers in North America!

The American Association of Orthodontists suggests scheduling an evaluation as soon as you see any sign of orthodontic problems, but no later than age seven. Age seven is the “magical” number since most problems can be identified by that age.  Children usually have their first permanent molars and incisors, allowing for evaluation of crowding, crossbites, and other alignment problems; and consultation with Hialeah’s 5-Star Rated Orthodontist, Dr. Maria Yazji Orthodontics, affords you the opportunity to plan any needed orthodontic treatments.

Phase One Treatment

Dr. Maria Yazji Orthodontics, Hialeah’s leading orthodontist, recommends a two-phase approach to a child’s orthodontic care.  Phase One focuses on your child’s jaw development.  The goal of treatment during phase one is to help create the conditions that allow your child’s jaw to develop in a way that will accommodate all of the permanent teeth and improve their dental bite. When treatment is started before all their adult teeth have emerged, it’s known as the Phase One Treatment. Based upon your individual child’s growth, Dr. Yazji may determine a time-out is needed until all of the child’s teeth emerge naturally.  Successful first phase treatments will have created room for permanent teeth to find an eruption path.

When your child’s permanent teeth have erupted, that’s when the second phase of childhood orthodontic care begins.  Yazji Orthodontics will establish a diagnosis and treatment plan for her patient.  Phase two usually includes both upper and lower braces over a course of approximately two years.  Gone are the days when traditional metal braces were the only option!

While still a viable choice, Dr. Maria Yazji Orthodontics’ Hialeah office is rated in the top 1% of Invisalign Providers in North America, an option that includes clear, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. Dr. Yazji’s state-of-the-art orthodontic office affords her patient, both young and not so young, the full scope of orthodontic options available today.
